In addition to pursuing my Ph.D. in media studies I am in a graduate certificate program for the Women’s and Gender Studies (WGS) Program. To entwine both research interests I focused the second case study for my dissertation on community media, civic engagement, and women struggling with homelessness and poverty in the Oklahoma City area. The second case study began as a WGS graduate student internship. As part of this internship a blog was required to document my experience in creating a media education course.
